Have you ever looked at the notes and coins in your pocket and thought, “How did that happen?”  How did we decide that pieces of paper and metal discs with people’s faces and historical places on them would be how we would pay for things?

Money – it’s great stuff. With money you can go to the cinema, grab a snack, download some new tunes, buy new headphones through which to listen to your new tunes, pick up some new clothes, or a car, a house, an education…. an airplane….. a trip to climb Mount Everest….even new skis to descend Mount Everest…wait. Not the skis – that’s a terrible idea.

We’ve talked before about putting away a few quid for small goals – headphones, clothes, runners, that kind of thing. But what about when you want something bigger? How about a trip to Ibiza? A motorcycle? A car? Classes in visual effects or graphic design? And somewhere down the line, a house?

Managing money seems like it should be an easy thing to do – I have money, I need to buy things, and when I have no more money, I can buy no more things.  Right? Wrong!
It doesn’t have to be overly complicated, but you’ll see soon that having an idea of where your money is, where it needs to go, and how much you need to make to get there, is really crucial.
